What is Cyber Gothic?
There is such a thing as 'Cyber Gothic' however much you wish to deny it and maybe even frown upon it you can't deny that it does exist.
Think of it as an underground movement that is becoming more and popular amongst a huge range of people, not just Goth's and no just those who attend the Raves that the Cyber craze was meant to of catered to.
WHAT IS CYBER GOTHIC?
Cyber Gothic is a sub-culture of Genre Fusion. It mixes elements of Cyberpunk - which is in itself a sub-culture of the Punk World - also with Ravers and traditional Goth clothing styles.
It is more suited to those who seem to follow Dance Music of the Electronic movement than General Rock Music but being in the field it is it does not simply lodge itself into one category.
Being a Cyber Goth normally would entail wearing Brightly coloured clothing not too disimilar than that of the Anime & Manga movement that is rife across Japan. But this Rave style didn't last too long.
It is still a relatively new area and the Rave element has been replaced with a more Industrial feel mixed with Sci-Fi overtones but never quite letting go of that Gothic standard.
All said and done, Future Gothic and Cyber Gothic enthusiasts would fit perfectly well in either an Electronic Rave Hall or at a Dungeon Rock Club.
Cyber Gothic Followers are also known as GRAVERS - Gothic Ravers!
CYBER GOTHIC FASHION
Mostly catering to the Neon nightclub fashion where almost everything worn comes to life under a Nightclub Black Light or UV light the style of clothing can vary from the outrageous to the sublime.
Cyberpunk is a form of Science Fiction writing and entertainment known as 'Hi-Tech with Low Lives.' It is in the Post-Modern Science Fiction Genre of Fiction and this is where a huge influence to the Cyber Goth culture has come from.
Shiny PVC can be mixed with tight clothes and fishnet fabrics or Live LED circuit Board clothing that can be turned on and off with a switch inside the clothing. Gas masks, Electronic Goggles and UV Body Jewellery can also be used in the formation of a Cyber Goth.
Companies that Specialize in Cyber Gothic Clothing and accessories include 'Cyberdog', 'Robotic Kitty Fashions' and 'Lip Service'
So being a Cyber Goth does not necessarily mean you are cut off from the Gothic world it just means that maybe the next stage of Gothic Evolution is upon us.
Is this the Future of Gothic?

TOP 10 Misconceptions of the Gothic Lifestyle
I have been involved in the Gothic Lifestyle and entertainment industry for many years, I have actively participated in the Bizarre Ball and been to numerous Metal gigs and concerts in my time.
But I also work in Financials and have what some may call a small online Empire and am quite respected in this field but when I get dressed up and rock out to Devin Townsend all night at the LA2 then there is those niggling misconceptions that some people have about me so to help us all out here is my top 10 Misconceptions of Goths and the Gothic Lifestyle...
1. Goth People Worship the Devil.
Uh - No, goth people don't worship the devil although we are more likely to give the devil's horn sign at a rock festival and chant Satan at the top of our voices than those at a Girl's Aloud concert. There are those that do but this is a rarity an limited almost certainly to the band of extreme Death or Black Metal but even then those lyrics are only pandering to a Gothic outlook on life.
2. Goth's only like Heavy Metal.
I knew a guy back in college who loved Heavy Metal and then he heard 'Time to Say Goodbye' by Sara Brightman and Andrea Bocelli and he burst into tears and proclaimed it the most moving piece of music ever written. What I'm trying to say is that lifestyles are not always defined by Music choices.
3. Goth's are normally young spotty teenagers.
Again not always true, in fact most gothic people I know are in their thirties and very very happy with their lives. They friendship network goes around the block and they mostly have very good job, mostly!
4. They are Grumpy, Unfriendly and Anti-social.
This is one of the big misconceptions and is normally associated with said person trying to limit their awareness in the 'normal' world. This may come across as being Grumpy or unfriendly but is merely similar to a defence mechanism when hiding their emotion and protecting their integrity amongst others whom they do not know. Anti-Social, definitely not!
5. All Gothic People are Criminals.
Criminal Damage Hotpants, awesome! Anyway if you were to do a study of the criminal records and history of any law enforcement office then you would most likely find that most criminal offences are not carried out by Goth's, maybe the occasional Church Burning but...not really, that only happens in Norway!
6. Don't actually know the real meaning of Goth.
Goth never used to relate to Heavy Metal loving, black clothes wearing heavy drinkers it was actually in the year 238AD when the Romans recruited Goths who were an East-Germanic tribe that may or may not have brought the Roman Empire to it's knees!
7. Halloween is the Goth Christmas.
Uh, no, Halloween and Christmas will always be separate holidays, crikey where do they come up with this stuff. It is true though that the Gothic Lifestyle inclined do have much more fun over the Halloween period!
8. Goth's are more Promiscuous.
Maybe, maybe not. This is a Human question and depends if someone actually enjoys the humpty back monster or not. It is too much of a stereotypical view to say that only gothic people sleep around when we all know that things like this are not tendered to any type of people.
9. They Drink loads and party all night.
....Yes, can't deny it. But not everyone does so best not to generalise here!
10. Are Professional Protesters.
It's like any group of people might decide to protest against a certain policy or event but it is most definitely not a specific goth way of thinking to protest at every opportunity. Gothic Lifestyle is more of a peaceful one where violence and protests rarely finds a foothold.
So there we go, 10 Misconceptions of the Gothic Lifestyle, spoken of, laughed at and debunked.
